How much did the IV hurt for your wisdom teeth?

I have tried 3 times to get my wisdom teeth removed but have chickened out due to the IV. In the past I have taken 10mg of valium. This time the doctor has given me 8mg of ativan. Should that help? I need advice. I know the doctor will give me laughing gas and spray the section for the IV. My needle phobia is no joke. I am scared but I know I need this surgery.
