Do you think this is fair?

My mom demands that I go to college either in MN (where I live), WI or Iowa, Because she wants me to be close to home. I found a college in Missouri that I completely love and isn't nearly as expensive as some of the ones she suggested, but she refuses to even let me apply to it or look into it because it would be harder for me to come home for Christmas... Also: She even suggested I go where she CURRENTLY goes, then said "Never mind, it's too expensive"... Does it seem fair that she won't even let me look into the colleges I like? I'm not demanding to go there, but I would like a little freedom to choose what to do in my life! I also talked to her about this slightly more pricey college in town, just to get it out there, and she immediately laughed at me. Apparently I'm either going to UMD, U of M, or Iowa state...
