A Dove that was bleeding from it's eyes....?

He was pouring blood from his eyes, the grass had blood in it. I am certain another bird must have injured him. He was in my backyard and when I bent to see if he was still alive he flew, blindly, and put his blood all over my leg. He then proceeded to fly and hit a tree. Although I see this as a tragedy caused in nature, I am still concerned if this is a type of omen? Is this commen?
